DNS setup guides

These are the exact DNS records to add at your domain provider so mail flows to SpinUp Email, plus step-by-step walkthroughs for the most common providers. Everything shown here is the same setup we walk paying customers through during onboarding — you're welcome to add the records ahead of time.

Don't have a SpinUp Email account yet? Start your signup. We'll automatically verify your DNS records and activate your mailboxes as soon as they're in place.

Pick your domain provider

Choose where your domain is registered (or managed) and we'll show you exactly which records to add and where to add them.

DNS records to add for your domain

These are the exact values to enter at GoDaddy. The step-by- step guide below walks through where each one goes.

MX record (primary)

Host / Name@
Priority10
Targetmx1.emailsrvr.com

MX record (secondary)

Host / Name@
Priority20
Targetmx2.emailsrvr.com

SPF record (TXT)

Host / Name@
TypeTXT
Valuev=spf1 include:emailsrvr.com ~all

Autodiscover (CNAME, optional)

Host / Nameautodiscover
TypeCNAME
Targetautodiscover.emailsrvr.com

Step-by-step at GoDaddy

Open GoDaddy DNS console in a new tab and follow these steps.

  1. 1

Open the DNS management page for your domain

Sign in to GoDaddy, click your name in the top right, choose 'My Products', find the domain you want to use for email, and click 'DNS' next to it.

  2. 2

    Delete any existing MX records

GoDaddy adds default Microsoft 365 / GoDaddy mail MX records to every new domain. In the DNS records list, scroll to the rows whose Type is 'MX' and click the trash-can icon next to each one. They have to be removed or your incoming mail will not reach SpinUp.

  3. 3

    Add the SpinUp MX records

Click 'Add New Record', set Type = MX, Name = @, Priority = 10, Value = mx1.emailsrvr.com, TTL = 1 Hour, then save. Repeat with Priority = 20 and Value = mx2.emailsrvr.com. The two records together give you SpinUp's redundant primary/secondary mail servers.

  4. 4

    Add the SPF record

Click 'Add New Record', set Type = TXT, Name = @, Value = v=spf1 include:emailsrvr.com ~all, TTL = 1 Hour, then save. If GoDaddy has an existing SPF record for your domain, edit that one instead of adding a duplicate; SPF only allows one TXT record per host.

  5. 5

Add the autodiscover CNAME (optional but recommended)

Click 'Add New Record', set Type = CNAME, Name = autodiscover, Value = autodiscover.emailsrvr.com, TTL = 1 Hour, then save. This is what lets Outlook auto-configure your mailbox without you typing in server names.

  6. 6

    Save your records

Save all the records in your DNS console. DNS changes usually apply within a few minutes but can take a few hours to fully propagate. Once you've purchased SpinUp Email we'll automatically verify the records for you and activate your account.
